About

Sunday School

We have three Sunday school classes. The curriculum is based upon "Journey to Adulthood" by Leader Resources and tailored to fit our needs.

Rite-13
The first two years (6th and 7th grades) focus on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. Rite-13 celebrates the participants' emerging adulthood. The Rite-13 Ceremony is a rite of passage from childhood towards adulthood. Pullen has this ceremony as a part of worship on a Sunday early in the new program year (September or October).
J2A (Journey to Adulthood)
The middle portion of the program (8th & 9th grades) engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. Youth begin to explore their role within the youth group as peer leaders on the horizon.
YAC (Young Adults in the Church)
The third and final phase of the curriculum is for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. This class helps youth understand their potential new role as peer leaders in the youth ministry and in the church. Youth are challenged to find ways to engage in the larger purpose of the church, such as being as ushers or committee members.

Wednesday Nights

All of our youth meet in Room 130 at 5:30 PM. They are encouraged get dinner in Finlator Hall or bring their own. On third Wednesdays, we eat in Finlator Hall with the rest of our church family. Ping pong, foosball, and air hockey make the fellowship an active part of this time together. We have announcements at 6:15 followed by our program which begins at 6:30. The program changes from week to week but it is our goal for it to be informative, conversational, interactive, and relevant to teenagers. Watch the blog for weekly updates.

Lenten Lesson Tracks

In the five Wednesdays before Easter, youth have the opportunity to select one of several lesson tracks in which to participate for five consecutive Wednesday nights. We have in the past explored religion in movies, movement as worship, and similar topics. One of the options each year is "Cup of Life" which explores the ritual of baptism and concludes with youth having the option to be baptized into the Pullen congregation.

Youth Choir

Come sing with us! The choir rehearses from 1:15 to 2:15 each Sunday afternoon. Choir members learn music fundamentals, help lead in worship periodically, and participate in "Festival By The Sea" each spring at Myrtle Beach. For more information, contact Larry Schultz, Minister of Music.

Pullen Orchestra

Youth with at least one year of experience on an instrument are invited to join other youth and adults in the Pullen Orchestra. The orchestra rehearses at 8:45 most Sunday mornings. The orchestra participates in worship periodically and plays at Cameron Village during the holiday open house which is usually the Thursday before Thanksgiving. For more information, contact Larry Schultz, Minister of Music.
